Nicole Marta’s work moves through fine art, illustration, commissions, and music-related artwork, always anchored by a distinctive visual language of anatomical distortion, fragile beauty, and tension.
Nicole Marta is a fine artist and illustrator based in New Jersey. Her practice explores the grotesque, emotional vulnerability, and psychological tension embedded in the body and psyche. Through highly detailed linework, distorted figures, and surreal symbolic forms, she creates images that feel at once intimate, confrontational, and darkly poetic.
In addition to her studio practice, Nicole has created artwork for music groups including Dead and Dropping, completed freelance commissions, and sold personal artwork to collectors. Her exhibitions include EAT SHIT! at Castellains's Gallery, Castellains's Gallery x Flat Box at Trans-Pecos in Queens, and The Remembered / Making Time at Index Art Center in Newark.
Artist Statement
My work explores vulnerability, grotesque imagery, and psychological tension. Through distorted figures, surreal forms, and obsessive ink drawing, I examine the unstable space between humor, anxiety, beauty, and bodily fragility.
I am drawn to imagery that sits between attraction and repulsion. By exaggerating physical structures and exposing internal forms, I try to reveal the strange emotional and corporeal realities that exist beneath everyday experience.
